New EC Air routes.

NEW EC AIR ROUTES. Eastern Caribbean Airlines (EC Air) recently received final certification from the FAA, and on April 21 announced the initial markets it will serve. Flights by EC Air, a subsidiary of Viva International, Inc. were planned to debut on May 1, or soon thereafter. EC Air President Jose Nieves said initial routes will link San Juan's Isla Grande airport to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. On weekends, charter flights will be operated from Isla Grande to the El Portillo Wildlife Reserve in the Dominican Republic. The initial flights will be operated with a twin-engine Cessna 402 "island hopper" turboprop seating seven passengers. Another 402 was expected to join the fleet later in May.
