New DMAC production technology.

The catalyst-free one-step DMAC (dimethylacetamide) production technology developed by Zhejiang Jiangshan Chemical Co., Ltd. has recently passed research achievement appraisal. The company has already constructed a 20 000 t/a DMAC production unit.

DMAC, an organic solvent with high polarity and high boiling point, can be blended with water and various organic solvents and used as solvent for synthetic fibers, plastic films, coatings, pharmaceuticals and catalysts.

Compared with traditional synthesis methods, the technology has advantages of simple process flow, easy control, small equipment investment and easy availability of raw materials-acetic acid and dimethylamine. The purity of product reaches 99.97%.

Besides, the company also plans to expand its capacity of DMAC to 40 000 t/a in 2008 to meet the increasing demand in the domestic market.
