BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- New Chapter announces that it will introduce CoffeeBerry(TM) 2500 Whole Coffee Fruit Concentrate to the North American natural products channel under an exclusive license from VDF VDF - Variable Data Field

CoffeeBerry(TM), the whole fruit (including the bean) of the coffee bush, is rich in potent tropical anti-oxidants and rare essential sugars. The coffee fruit is generically termed the "cherry" and, like all fruits, it is laden with plant phenolics that protect and nourish the seed.

The fresh red coffee fruit has been consumed by humans for thousands of years. Traditional cultures have long been sustained by this nutrient powerhouse. Unfortunately it was only available to those who lived near a mature coffee bush, because the fruit was too perishable to survive harvesting. Consequently, only the bitter seed, or bean, has been commercially utilized.

Until now. Thanks to a novel patent-pending technology exclusively licensed to New Chapter, the extraordinary health benefits of fresh, ripe coffee fruit are for the first time available.

"Enthusiasm for CoffeeBerry has been steadily growing throughout the industry. VDF/FC was looking for a partner company that would be willing to produce and market a stand-alone CoffeeBerry product to be marketed in retail health food channels. VDF FutureCeuticals has partnered with New Chapter because New Chapter has exhibited an overall enthusiasm, organization and commitment to the development of CoffeeBerry as a new category in the nutritional supplement arena," says Jeff Van Drunen, President of FutureCeuticals.

"CoffeeBerry(TM) will be a core part of New Chapter's nutritional program," says Paul Schulick, Founder and CEO of the company. "CoffeeBerry is a complex whole-food antioxidant with extraordinary ORAC ORAC - Oracle 9i Real Application Clusters
ORAC - Orgone Accumulator
ORAC - Osceola Resort Area Council
ORAC - Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity
values, but it is so much more than just the finest fruit antioxidant. It delivers many of the essential glyconutrients, or essential sugars, necessary to support multiple physiological processes. It is thus a one-stop source of both antioxidant protection and the vital building blocks of life. We are delighted that VDF FutureCeuticals has selected us to bring this product to the health food retail channel."

CoffeeBerry(TM) has significantly higher levels of certain important nutrients that are lost during production of conventional coffee. That's because many beneficial coffee nutrients are discarded with the fruit when coffee beans are processed, or destroyed during the roasting of the coffee bean.

Scientific research has shown that the berry of the coffee is abundant in polyphenols that help to: (i) preserve natural antioxidants in the body; (ii) protect cell membranes and human plasma against damaging oxidation; (iii) neutralize toxic free radicals and (iv) maintain healthy blood glucose levels.

CoffeeBerry(TM) contains five of eight rare and essential sugars called monosaccharides monosaccharide /mono·sac·cha·ride/ (mon?o-sak´ah-rid) a simple sugar, having the general formula CnH2nOn; a carbohydrate that cannot be decomposed by hydrolysis. The two main types are the aldoses and the ketoses.

. Research indicates that these glyconutrients are essential for the proper functioning of various biological systems. Polysaccharides, such as mannans and arabinoglactans, make up almost half the dry weight of CoffeeBerry(TM). Conventional roasting destroys these nutrients, so they are not found in traditional brewed coffee.

In addition, a daily serving of CoffeeBerry 2500 contains no more caffeine than one tenth of a cup of tea.

About CoffeeBerry

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Center for Aging at Tufts University measured the Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity (ORAC) of more than 40 fruits and vegetables.

Compared to their measurements, a 400 milligram serving of CoffeeBerry(TM) 2500 Whole Fruit Concentrate provides the same anti-free radical power as 9.6 grams of fresh blueberries, 6.2 grams of strawberries, 4.9 grams of raspberries or 2.9 grams of grapes.
