New CMP online pub covers global sourcing; one-time pub for IT pros.

This month, CMP Media's (Manhasset, NY) TechWeb Network began the publication of Managing Offshore. The new online, subscription publication is designed to help solve "the complex information needs of executives involved in global sourcing issues," CMP said. It will be produced monthly and an annual subscription costs $495.

The new title analyzes and provides reports on the global sourcing of services including application development, infrastructure, business process outsourcing and call/contact centers. It carries reports on topics such as how to find the best global locations for companies (economic geography), explorations of local markets, cost-reduction and moving jobs overseas. Each issue contains two main reports.

The May issue includes reports and articles on selecting vendors in the process disciplines and the rise of sourcing contracts known as hybrids. The issue also includes the "Managing Offshore Index," a ranking featuring 20 of the largest companies in the offshore outsourcing market. Regular columns in the title cover contract law, project management, change management, intercultural strategies and regulatory issues.

CMP's TechWeb Network has also launched OutSourcingPipeline.com, a web site that carries news and information for IT professionals involved in outsourcing.

In related news, CMP and Microsoft Corp. (Redmond, WA) will publish TechNet Magazine with a Fall 2004 issue. The one-time title will be published in conjunction with MSDN Magazine's security-focused issue. It will be targeted to IT professionals and will carry security articles on such topics as protecting passwords, integrating security for Windows and Unix, recognizing and preventing hacking and fortifying network systems.
