New Bear Stearns building wins BOMA award.

 recognized 383 Madison Ave., Bear Stearns' World Headquarters, as the "New Construction of the Year" project for 2002-2003.

BOMA Boma (bō`mə), city (1984 pop. 197,617), Bas-Congo province, W Congo (Kinshasa), on the Congo River estuary. A port and railhead, it exports tropical timber, bananas, cacao, and palm products.  New York, which presents awards annually to building developers, selects a newly constructed building that demonstrates foresight in site selection and development, embodies excellent and unique concepts in construction, and resulted in the successful and timely completion of a structure that makes a significant contribution to the greater New York area. Past recipients include the US Government Courthouse and Federal Building and 5 Times Square.

In its Pinnacle Award announcement, BOMA New York wrote, "Fitting its esteemed position as a premier investment banking and securities trading securities trading, financial activity involving transactions of property such as stocks, bonds, commodities, and currency (see securities). Although the trading of stocks and bonds dates back several centuries in many Western nations, the development of the  firm, the Bear Stearns The Bear Stearns Companies, Inc. (NYSE: BSC) is the parent company of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., one of the largest global investment banks and securities trading and brokerage firms in the world.  Companies, Inc. recently constructed a 45-floor, 1.2-million-SF facility to serve as its global headquarters. Built over the Metro North train shed at Grand Central Terminal, the octagonal oc·tag·o·nal
