New Bayer entities launch this month.Two units of Bayer Corp. in Pittsburgh, Bayer Polymers and Bayer Chemicals, were reorganized into two new companies starting July 1. Bayer MaterialScience has five business units: polyurethanes, polycarbonates polycarbonates, group of clear, thermoplastic polymers used mainly as molding compounds (see plastic). Polycarbonates are prepared by the reaction of an aromatic difunctional phenol with either phosgene or an aromatic or aliphatic carbonate. , TPUs, coatings/adhesives/sealants, and inorganic basic chemicals. The other new unit, Lanxess, has 17 business units in four major segments: Engineering Plastics includes nylons, PBT PBT Provider Backbone Transport (networking technology adding determinism to ethernet) PBT Polybutylene Terephthalate PBT Profit Before Tax PBT Paper Based Test (education) , ABS, SAN, ABS/nylon, ASA Asa (ā`sə), in the Bible, king of Judah, son and successor of Abijah.
