New Aboriginal shelter in WPG. (Child and Family).


WINNIPEG -- Ikwe-Widdjiitiwin Inc. (Ikwe), an Aboriginal women's shelter A Women's Shelter is a place of temporary refuge and support for women escaping violent situations, such as rape, and domestic violence. Having the ability to leave a situation of violence is valuable for women who are under attack because such situations frequently involve an  for victims of family violence, will open in Winnipeg. With the assistance of $1.49 million from the Shelter Enhancement Program, which is cost-shared by the Government of Canada The Government of Canada is the federal government of Canada. IIkwe provides shelter facilities, outreach and support to women and children in a healthy, safe and culturally-sensitive setting.
