In making the announcement, Patrick Romich, president of IHS Engineering Products, said: "This new service is by far the largest product information database of its kind to allow side-by-side product comparisons. What's more, it's extraordinarily fast because it combines two search methodologies - keyword searching and point-and-click searching, via a four-level hierarchical classification scheme." The keyword searching is based on a technical thesaurus IHS has been perfecting for nearly 20 years. This thesaurus is very precise, and is designed to minimize irrelevant results.
