New 'AT&T University' signals demand for high-tech networking talent.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 1995--AT&T and Golden Gate University today announced a new accredited telecommunications college that will help corporations meet the pressing need for experts who understand today's highly complex, rapidly changing networking technologies.

The new college, open to AT&T's business customers and AT&T employees, will offer degrees in corporate telecommunications management, with an emphasis on sophisticated network management technologies.

"With this new college curriculum, students will have an unprecedented opportunity to learn from the world's most innovative communications company," said James W. Koerlin, dean, School of Technology and Industry, Golden Gate University. "This is the first time AT&T has partnered with a university to offer a degree in complex network management technologies."

According to Charles Ansley, vice president of Client Services and Marketing for AT&T Solutions, the courses help fill a pressing need for individuals who are highly skilled in today's newest network management systems.

"Simply taking a few basic courses in telecommunications doesn't add enough value to our customers' complex operations," said Ansley. "Our program enriches on-the-job training by educating employees in the most current technological know-how. It also enhances the lives of employees by enabling them to take more pride in their accomplishments on the job. Our customers will see the benefits on a daily basis."

The program is known as ACCUMASTER(R) Management Services University (AMSU). The name refers to a line of network management products and services AT&T offers worldwide.

Students take courses using a combination of work and personal time. AMSU delivers classes via video teleconferencing, using state-of-the art interactive distance learning concepts. This makes it possible to offer the curriculum at or near the students' work location, minimizing time away from the job.

In addition to video classroom instruction, students receive counseling and other services normally provided by Golden Gate University. AMSU plans various in-person, group learning activities for each program level.

For instance, a forum of selected telecommunications professionals, instructors and industry experts will meet with AMSU graduate students for four days in May to discuss emerging telecommunications technologies in a creative and interactive way.

Students must qualify for admission to Golden Gate University before enrolling in AMSU. In addition, they must work for AT&T or be AT&T customers.
