New "Bohemian" guitar from Aslin Dane: Codel Enterprises.THE BOHEMIAN GUITAR from Aslin Dane was inspired by Brian May's "Red Special." It features a mahogany body and a set-in mahogany neck with a 24-fret rosewood fretboard. The set-in neck gives the guitar plenty of sustain, while the cutaways grant the player unrestricted access to the guitar's upper frets. The neck utilizes a shallow/fat D-shaped profile that is easy on the hands while leaving plenty of room for bending. Aslin Dane designed the headstock with a staggered three-per-side tuner layout to help keep string tension as uniform as possible. The die-cast tuning machines and graphite nut allow the player to use and abuse the twin point fulcrum tremolo without having to worry about retuning every time. The Bohemian's electronics are unique. The designers at Aslin Dane wanted to make a guitar that would not have a single tone that would pigeonhole it into a particular genre; they wanted to make the guitar as versatile as possible. The guitar has three mini-humbucking pickups, each with an on/off and coil-tap switch, a master volume, and a master tone. This gives the player an almost limitless tonal palette to work with. For players who prefer a more traditional approach, a version with three P-90 pickups, a five-way selector switch, two volumes, and one tone will be shown at the 2007 Winter NAMM show. MSRP for the Bohemian guitar is $499. NAMM Booth: 5860 (203) 205-0056 [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] |
