The NCSA develops unbiased, evolving criteria to define good security products. NCSA certification is designed to insure that a firewall will repel important hacker attacks, both common and uncommon. NCSA uses a variety of vulnerability scanning tools and manual techniques to verify that known attacks are effectively combated.
