Network Storage Solutions, a Planned Acquisition of IQ Biometrix, Signs Multi-Year OEM Software Agreement with Inno Micro of Japan.

:IQBM) announced today that Network Storage Solutions (NSS (Novell Storage Services) A 64-bit file system introduced with NetWare 5 that can support terabyte-sized files. NSS files and standard NetWare files can be used in the same server. See NetWare 5.

The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  agreement with Inno Micro Corporation of Japan.

IQB announced in May that it had entered into a letter of intent for the acquisition of NSS, a leading developer and supplier of network storage software and products for security and other applications.

Inno Micro Corporation of Japan is a leading system integrator that provides storage solutions for major Japanese manufacturers. Under the terms of the agreement, NSS will supply its award winning SPANStor software for integration with the Inno Micro server which, when combined with a storage system, provides a powerful NAS (1) See network access server.

(2) (Network Attached Storage) A specialized file server that connects to the network. A NAS device contains a slimmed-down operating system and a file system and processes only I/O requests by supporting the popular
 solution.

The agreement represents a major endorsement of its technology for the international market place and the recognition of its SPANStor operating system as a compelling Network Attached Storage solution. Roger Kirkland, VP International Sales for NSS said "It allows NSS to extend its products offerings to the Japanese market through a strong partner that will provide the total solution as well as service and support for the customer base."

The SPANStor V5 NAS software is built on an open, NetBSD kernel with a powerful Journaling File System that was designed to operate on virtually any Intel based server platform. The backend storage attachment is agnostic as SPANStor's O/S will support multiple storage suppliers. Optional products include SPANSync file replication and data migration, Fail-Over functionality and virus scanning licensed through NAI See Network Associates. .

Mr. Fukuoka from Inno Micro stated, "After extensive evaluation the NSS SPANStor O/S proved to be the most robust and provide the strongest feature set for our customer base. We are looking forward to taking the product to our market and have several significant customers currently in beta programs."
