Network Access Solutions Expands Business Class Services Utilizing Paradyne's Hotwire M/SDSL Products.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1998--Paradyne Corporation, a pioneer and leader in digital network access, announced today that Network Access Solutions (NAS), a data Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) serving the East Coast, has significantly expanded its service to include high-speed symmetric data services targeting the medium and large business market.

NAS will initially work with Internet Service Providers (ISPs and IXCs) to deploy high-speed data access for corporate LAN access, metropolitan area applications including frame and dedicated access service offerings based on Paradyne's Hotwire(tm) Multi-rate Symmetric DSL (M/SDSL) in the Bell Atlantic operating region as part of its CuNet(tm) (pronounced coppernet) service offering.

NAS, based in Sterling, Virginia, was the first data CLEC to offer DSL services in Washington, D.C. and the mid-Atlantic region. Starting in early 1997, NAS deployed Paradyne's Hotwire Rate Adaptive DSL (RADSL), primarily for ISPs. NAS is offering symmetric access speeds with Hotwire M/SDSL ranging from 128 Kbps to 2 Mbps in New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Baltimore, and Richmond from over 60 Point of Presences (POPs) located in Bell Atlantic central offices. NAS is rolling out an additional 35 POPs by April of 1999.

NAS will also offer corporate customers high-speed M/SDSL solutions in conjunction with the rollout of metropolitan area networks in all major Bell Atlantic cities. Founded in 1994 as a single-source systems integrator focused on corporate wide area network (WAN) and metropolitan area network (MAN) requirements, NAS is ideally situated to provide a complete range of services including design, installation, maintenance, network management and security with technical resources that are located throughout the region. As the first CLEC to obtain an interconnect agreement with Bell Atlantic specifically for DSL, NAS has a comprehensive understanding of operations, systems, and support (OSS) requirements to ensure quality loop qualification, timely provisioning and maintenance of lines. NAS will offer Service Level Agreements, standard installation delivery dates, as well as 24x7 customer care.

They seamlessly integrate into the Hotwire 8810/8610 multiservices DSLAMs. The multi-rate feature maximizes the use of the copper loop in 64 Kbps increments, allowing the longest reach of any symmetric product available.
