ASSIA's dynamic spectrum management (DSM) technology enables carriers and service providers to deliver increased bandwidth over longer loop lengths. Netopia and ASSIA are partnering to integrate ASSIA's DSM technology with Netopia's NBBS remote device management platform. Both companies are investing in a joint effort to enable DSL DSL

line optimization for carriers delivering triple play services through NBBS. As part of this relationship, Netopia will obtain intellectual property rights to ASSIA's DSM technology.

The integrated solution from Netopia and ASSIA is expected to result in significant, quantifiable benefits to carriers and service providers by extending the reach of DSL services and offering improvements in the available bandwidth to the subscriber. By using Netopia's NBBS platform with ASSIA's DSM technology, carriers and service providers can optimize the provisioning and performance of their DSL lines to deliver high-quality triple play video, voice, and data services to more subscribers, resulting in improved profitability, increased revenues, and reduced customer churn.

"As bandwidth-intensive triple play services continue to advance, it's crucial that carriers make the most of their existing infrastructure and maximize the capability of their lines," said John Cioffi, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and Chairman of the board at ASSIA. "By integrating Netopia's NBBS platform with our dynamic spectrum management technologies, we're providing carriers an integrated DSL management platform that can not only provision, configure, and manage devices remotely, but also tune DSL lines for optimum performance. This is a very powerful combination of DSL management capabilities."

Netopia's Open NBBS Architecture

Netopia's NBBS TR-069 remote device management platform allows carriers and service providers to automatically provision DSL gateways and improve customer support capabilities. The NBBS platform is uniquely suited for open interoperability due to its robust Northbound interface which smoothly integrates with existing carrier and service provider systems and with other server-based software platforms. The Northbound interface allows Netopia to rapidly integrate NBBS with key third-party technology to offer more value and functionality to carriers focused on triple play service offerings.

"By opening up NBBS to broader capabilities through its Northbound interface, we're able to leverage the unique expertise of our technology partners and give carriers and service providers critical additional functionality on our robust and scalable remote CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.
