Netopia Leverages its Remote Management Platform's Open Architecture to Partner with Leading Technology Providers; Netopia Broadband Server (NBBS) to Integrate with ASSIA's Dynamic Spectrum Management Technology for DSL Line Optimization.

LAS VEGAS -- Netopia, Inc. (OTCBB:NTPA), a market leader in broadband gateways and service-delivery software, announced an initiative to integrate leading third-party technologies using the open architecture of its Netopia Broadband Server (NBBS) platform. This initiative will enable new and innovative value-added services for carrier and service provider customers using Netopia's NBBS platform to manage their broadband deployments. Netopia also announced ASSIA, Inc. as its first major technology integration partner under this initiative.

ASSIA Dynamic Spectrum Management (DSM) Integration

ASSIA's dynamic spectrum management (DSM) technology enables carriers and service providers to deliver increased bandwidth over longer loop lengths. Netopia and ASSIA are partnering to integrate ASSIA's DSM technology with Netopia's NBBS remote device management platform. Both companies are investing in a joint effort to enable DSL line optimization for carriers delivering triple play services through NBBS. As part of this relationship, Netopia will obtain intellectual property rights to ASSIA's DSM technology.

The integrated solution from Netopia and ASSIA is expected to result in significant, quantifiable benefits to carriers and service providers by extending the reach of DSL services and offering improvements in the available bandwidth to the subscriber. By using Netopia's NBBS platform with ASSIA's DSM technology, carriers and service providers can optimize the provisioning and performance of their DSL lines to deliver high-quality triple play video, voice, and data services to more subscribers, resulting in improved profitability, increased revenues, and reduced customer churn.
