X.509 Client Certificate Support Added to Secure Application Acceleration Service

Accelerated SSL Delivery with X.509 client certificate support, is designed to ensure global LAN-like response times for web-enabled applications that rely on SSL and are secured further with X.509 client based certificates. In a separate release, Netli also announced NetliDRM for greater control over content delivery (see release titled, "Netli Adds Digital Rights Management to Application Acceleration and Content Delivery Services," dated Dec. 4). The new feature enables enterprises with the highest security requirements to add client authentication, requiring users accessing the server to exchange an X.509 client certificate - assuring that the person represented by the certificate is the person you expect. With Accelerated SSL Delivery with X.509 client support, web-enabled enterprises can deliver global LAN-like response times for all their transactions without sacrificing security or control.

Web-enabled enterprises that deploy business-critical applications over the Internet must protect data with the same level of security offered on a private LAN. To do so, these companies make extensive use of SSL. The use of SSL, however, presents several challenges because it significantly increases latency, resulting in poor performance and a negative user experience.
