NetWorth announces HubView 2.2, easy-to-use SNMP-based network management software package.

:NWTH) announced the release of HubView 2.2, the next generation of NetWorth's SNMP-based network management package.

HubView management software provides comprehensive monitoring and control for all NetWorth devices. HubView 2.2 is easy to use, yet powerful enough to perform even the most complex network management tasks.

HubView 2.2 permits management of the entire NetWorth product line to be performed from a "sophisticated but simple" Windows-based graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI)

Computer display format that allows the user to select commands, call up files, start programs, and do other routine tasks by using a mouse to point to pictorial symbols (icons) or lists of menu choices on the screen as opposed to having to
. Selecting and assigning segments and backplanes, managing redundant links, setting user-defined thresholds for alarm and event notification and other Ethernet and Token Ring management tasks are all performed within HubView's graphical user interface.

HubView 2.2 supports the entire family of manageable NetWorth products. In addition to the Series 3000 and 4000, HubView 2.2 supports the Remote Office 6000 chassis, the eight-port Snappable hub, all categories of the trunk module, all categories of the Telco module and PowerPipes. Port security is an optional feature now available with HubView 2.2

With the security firmware upgrade installed, port security can be implemented on 12 different module types. An improved method of downloading firmware to Series 2000 Snappable Hubs via TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) A lightweight version of the FTP protocol that has no directory browsing or password capability. Employing UDP rather than TCP for transport, TFTP is typically used to transfer firmware upgrades to network equipment such as  (Trivial File Transfer Protocol (networking) Trivial File Transfer Protocol - (TFTP) A simple file transfer protocol used for down-loading boot code to diskless workstations.

Network administrators are provided with expanded network management and statistical capabilities. PowerMAN, a toolbar selection that manages the Power Pipes Ethernet/FDDI Switching Hub, displays Ethernet port statistics, FDDI/Ethernet statistics and unit configuration.

Other features designed to ease network administration tasks include hierarchical, graphical "maps" of the network city and the ability to import bitmaps for customized network depiction.

HubView 2.2 has full MIB (1) (Management Information Base) The hierarchical database used by the simple network management protocol (SNMP) to describe the particular device being monitored. MIB objects are identified using ASN.1 syntax.
