NetWorker Modules for IBM databases on Linux. (Database News).


Legato Systems, who have released Legato NetWorker Modules for IBM's database software running on Linux say it is the only enterprise-level solution that supports all of IBM's business-critical database applications for Linux.

The NetWorker Modules are available for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  DB2 and Informix database products and integrate with each database, enabling online backup Using the Web to store copies of data for backup. There are numerous providers on the Internet that charge for storage, and fees are typically based on capacity. Online backup services provide offsite backup, which is essential for disaster recovery. See backup types.  and restore of IBM databases with maximum reliability. Should data be lost, databases, tablespaces, objects or transaction log files can be recovered individually.

Automated protection is achieved using NetWorker's backup scheduling, autochanger See autoloader.  support, tape cloning and advanced media handling including library and dynamic drive sharing.

Providing backup server, storage node and client support for Linux, NetWorker uses parallelism and interleaving interleaving - sector interleave  to protect data fast and allows administrators to perform backups locally or "over-the-wire" to a central tape library.
