NetEffect To Join Ethernet Alliance; Company Brings Experience Gained Through Work Advancing Ethernet Standard.

AUSTIN, Texas -- NetEffect, driving the next generation of Ethernet connectivity solutions throughout the datacenter, today announced its participation in the newly-created Ethernet Alliance The Ethernet Alliance includes component suppliers, industry experts, university and government professionals who formed a consortium to promote industry awareness, acceptance and advancement of Ethernet technology and products based on existing and emerging IEEE 802 Ethernet . NetEffect will provide insight and innovation gained through its work that allows industry-standard Ethernet networks to transport disparate types of data for networking, storage and clustering at up to 10 Gigabits per second.

The Ethernet Alliance is a consortium of system and component vendors, industry experts, and university and government professionals who are committed to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology. The mission of the Ethernet Alliance is to promote industry awareness, acceptance, and advancement of technology and products based on both existing and emerging IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  802 Ethernet standards and their management.

NetEffect's solutions provide the first full implementation of the iWARP extensions to Ethernet. When fully implemented, these extensions dramatically lower networking overhead and transmission latency (1) The time between initiating a request in the computer and receiving the answer. Data latency may refer to the time between a query and the results arriving at the screen or the time between initiating a transaction that modifies one or more databases and its completion.  while remaining completely compatible with existing Ethernet infrastructures. Because iWARP remains in compliance with Ethernet standards, not only is network performance improved, but data center management and operations are greatly simplified. NetEffect iWARP-based Ethernet Channel Adapters (ECAs) deliver multi-gigabit performance, while scaling to meet the most rigorous demands for networking, storage and clustering applications, across any Ethernet network topology See topology. .

"NetEffect is pleased to join the Ethernet Alliance as we share many of the same goals," said Rick Maule, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , president and chairman of the board, NetEffect. "We are all working for the advancement of Ethernet, allowing this ubiquitous standard to yet again evolve to meet the needs of a growing number of demanding data center environments."

"We're happy to have NetEffect's experience and expertise in the Ethernet Alliance," said Blaine Kohl, vice president of marketing for the Ethernet Alliance. "The work of NetEffect and other industry leaders within the Alliance will ensure Ethernet continues to be the standard technology on which much of the world's data communications data communications, application of telecommunications technology to the problem of transmitting data, especially to, from, or between computers. About NetEffect

NetEffect is a privately held network connectivity solutions company providing next generation, multi-gigabit Ethernet products. These products fully implement iWARP standards, the new series of Ethernet extensions. iWARP enables Ethernet scalability to deliver high throughput for networking, fast access for storage, and low latency Low latency allows human-unnoticeable delays between an input being processed and the corresponding output providing real time characteristics. This can be especially important for internet connections utilizing services such as online gaming and VOIP - VOIP is not as important as  for clustering. NetEffect solutions can concurrently support legacy Ethernet infrastructures

and the new generation of storage and clustering applications, at 10Gbps speeds.
