NetAttach allows the user who routinely visits the Web the ability to retrieve, search, and filter data from the Web for time-saving, off-line browsing. As the name implies, NetAttach is a Web expert agent with a fully-functional spider, gathering information from Web sites as specified by the user, then saving the information to disk.

Signaling the start of a new generation of Web agents, NetAttach increases the relevance of your search. It can automatically extract new information from a Web site, stating not only that the page has changed, but also specifying how it has changed, extracting or marking the actual differences while preserving the format of the original data. NetAttach also has the ability to search Web pages as they are downloaded, identifying and marking pages which match user-specified logical search queries.

NetAttach provides a flexible, extensible interface to Web search engines A Web site that maintains an index and short summaries of billions of pages on the Web, Google being the world's largest. Most search engine sites are free and paid for by advertising banners, while others charge for the service.  This capability works seamlessly with NetAttach's spider and data filtering tools, providing a powerful Web research mechanism. In addition, NetAttach serves as an individual's archive, preserving full pages, including graphics and other data. It has a built-in flexible scheduler and can run unattended .

NetAttach's architecture offers streamlined data management and portability. It is also of interest in corporate Intranets as vehicle to disseminate dis·sem·i·nate

NetAttach is available as a 16-bit application for MS-Windows 3.1 and as a threaded threaded - thread  32-bit application for MS-Windows 95 and MS-Windows NT, V.3.5.1. Distribution will be from Tympani Development's Web site, http://www.tympani.com, in May at a price of $49.95.

Last month Tympani Development released NetAttach Light, embodying the best features of the first generation products of this category, available as freeware Software that is distributed without charge and which may be redistributed without charge by its users. However, ownership is retained by the developer who may change future releases from freeware to a paid product (feeware).
