NeoCore Announces PacketEyes Software Development Kit for Pattern-Based Associative Processing Technology.

NeoCore, LLC (www.neocore.com) announces the release of its PacketEyes(TM) software development kit (SDK). The SDK is targeted specifically to OEMs for the ultra-high-performance enhancement of their security applications ranging from firewalls to content scanners. A complete SDK contains four libraries: NeoCAM(TM), NeoData(TM), NeoSlider(TM), and NeoFilter(TM) (a fifth library, NeoPattern(TM), is scheduled for release in early 2000).

The PacketEyes SDK is an integral part of NeoCore's Packet Processing Engine (PPE), which brings unprecedented performance to a broad range of packet handling operations, including such high-value applications as network security and packet accounting. "Not only is it the fastest, most comprehensive packet processing tool on the market, it enhances system functionality with little or no perceivable degradation to system performance."

Each PacketEyes SDK contains control modules and drivers for the NeoCore API libraries. Multiple, individually configured, instances of a library can function simultaneously within an application, and each library can operate alone or in conjunction with the others. A complete SDK includes:

NeoCAM

Virtual Content Addressable Memory. It is appropriate for fast lookup, firewalls, and general datacom and telecom applications that require fixed length field associations.

NeoData

Key data indexing. It is appropriate for general purpose, non-sequential indexing of multimedia and other variable-length key data applications.

NeoSlider

Sliding window pattern matching. It is ideal for content analysis and scanning applications and for security and pattern-matching devices. It can look for any number of different patterns of varying sizes simultaneously without impacting its extremely fast performance.

NeoFilter

Priority pattern matching. It can resolve matches based on arbitrary precedence rules, completely divergent key data fields, and multi-level exceptions. It is appropriate for security and management applications such as policy routers and intrusion detection equipment. It includes middleware tailored to specific application types.

The libraries can be purchased together or separately. The SDK supports several platforms: Visual C++, Metaware, GNU, Solaris, Windows 95/97/NT4, Linux, and others.

By identifying the nature of data, rather than its location, NeoCore utilizes and improves upon the latest advances in associative processing. And because NeoCore's processing engine takes over many of the associative tasks such as lookups, filtering, and matching, system performance does not degrade. "NeoCore has a fundamental enabling technology that complements virtually all data management processes," states Whittington. "Even existing network acceleration schemes can benefit from being NeoCore-Enabled(TM)."

NeoCore intends to offer its technology in a full range of products. Implementation in an SDK offers 10-fold increases over current processing speeds; however, even more dramatic performance will be realized when the technology is partially or completely embedded in hardware (ASICs, circuit boards, or Verilog(R) cores). These releases are scheduled for 2000. Because all implementations are accessed through the SDK, migration from software to hardware will be easy.
