Nelson Construction and Development Corp. has named Coldwell Banker Roohan Realty to head its marketing program.

Nelson Construction and Development Corp. has named Coldwell Banker Roohan Realty to head its marketing program for two of the company's major developments here. Cold-well Banker's Scott Varley (photo), leading Realtor in the Capital District in 1992, will direct the program.

With sales in excess of $3 million annually, Varley has been Coldwell Banker's top producer since 1989, reports Robert Nelson, vice president of Nelson Construction.

Varley will be responsible for all sales activity at the $70 million, 349-unit developments known as Woodlands at Saratoga Lake and Water's Edge on Saratoga Lake.

Woodlands, a luxury development of single-family homes, and its sister townhome community, Water's Edge, offer access to Saratoga Lake. Both enjoy year-round common amenities, including a 175-slip marina, private beach and boardwalk, a 13,000 squarefoot athletic pavilion with indoor and outdoor tennis courts and swimming pools, sauna, whirlpool, fitness room, racquetball court and outdoor basketball court.

Varley will seek to encourage sales for the two developments through such marketing efforts as advertising and special promotions, Realtor cooperation and extensive buyer qualification.

David B. Mourning, AIA, president of Interior Architects, Inc., has announced that the company has made seven permanent additions to its corporate interior design and client service staffs in its New York office, over the last several months.

Eugene R. Ogman has been appointed to the newly created post of director of Operations and Creative Services. With 18 years experience to his credit, Ogman studied industrial design at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut, and was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Studies from the Art Center College in Los Angeles. Ogman was the design architect for Rockefeller Center and was involved with renovations during the last 13 years, totalling more than $40,000,000.

William J. Rutkowski, RA, has been appointed manager of CADD Services. With 10 years' experience, Rutkowski is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree, Cum Laude.

David Lefkowitz has joined IA as CADD designer/operator. A graduate of Boston University's School of Management, Lefkowitz holds BS Business Administration.

Anthony V. Saviano has been added as technical Director. With 20 years' experience, Saviano holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Pratt University in New York, and an Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering from Norwalk State Technical College in Connecticut. Saviano was the designer for the facade of the New York Law School Library.

Fausta S. Esguerra has been added as senior designer. With 16 years' experience, Esguerra studied architecture at the University of Manila, in the Philippines, and was awarded a BS.

Ashraf Mina has also been added as a senior designer. With 8 years' experience, Mina is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design. He was involved in the design of the United States Fidelity & Guaranty headquarters building in Baltimore, Maryland, and the renovation of the Citicorp Real Estate Investment Management headquarters in Manhattan.

Dan Georgescu has been appointed project manager. With 16 years' experience in interior design and architecture, Georgescu holds a Master of Architecture Degree from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning (lon Micu) in Bucharest, Romania. Georgescu has been involved in design projects and renovations for AIG Corporation.

Edward Cettina (photo), has been promoted to vice president to vice president of Tishman Construction Corporation of New York and of Tishman Research Corporation, the research and product development unit of Tishman Realty & Construction that specializes in building science and construction technology.

Due to new endeavors that Tishman Research Corporation has become involved in recently, Cettina is assisting Barry Donaldson, executive vice president of Tishman Research Corporation, in serving the unit's notable clientele, including: Honeywell Inc., American Standard Inc., AMP Inc., and The Trane Co. Donaldson and Cettina are working closely together to provide comprehensive consulting services to clients on the creation and implementation of new products, standards, and procedures. Tishman Research also conducts studies to find ways to reduce costs, accelerate construction, and enhance the quality and efficiency of the built environment. Cettina is also involved with the marketing efforts of a new joint-venture, Grupo Adalma/Tishman, which is exploring business opportunities in South America.

In addition to his responsibilities for Tishman Research, Cettina oversees the mechanical/electrical aspects of several of Tishman's New York construction projects. He is involved in preconstruction activities, including value engineering and preliminary budgeting; bid and award of mechanical/electrical trades; and installation of systems during the construction phase. He is currently overseeing the mechanical/electrical engineering work on an interior fit-out and base building modernization of nine floors at 1133 Avenue of the Americas, the addition of kitchens and meeting rooms at The St. Regis hotel, the rehabilitation of five floors of Bankers Trust office space, and an air-conditioning system upgrade of two trading floors for Lehman Brothers.

Cettina joined Tishman in 1987 as an estimator in our New York Estimating Department. Since then, he has served in various capacities on many New York Tishman projects, including: 114 West 47th Street, CitySpire, The St. Regis hotel, La Guardia Community College, the Japan Society building, and The Jewish Museum.

Cettina holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University. He is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New York and a member of ASHRAE.

The National Fire Sprinkler Association, Inc. (NFSA) announced the appointment of Robert L. "Mac" McLeod to the position of vice president of Regional Operations.

During his years with NFSA, McLeod has been instrumental in implementing a national training program for Authorities Having Jurisidiction, developed training packages for fire sprinkler system design, installation, and inspection, and coordinated their distribution. In 1989, McLeod directed the 23-minute video entitled "NFPA 13R - A New Level of Protection" for use in fire sprinkler installation classes and plan review courses. He has been a consultant for NFPA and the International Society of Fire Service Instructors, and a board member for ISFSI.

Lehrer McGovern Bovis, Inc. (LMB), an international construction management and consulting company, has appointed Carlos J. Pesant as vice president in the New York office, responsible for operations and business development with emphasis on the hotel, hospitality and residential markets.

Pesant has more than 20 years of experience as a designer and construction professional working in the hospitality industry. Previously, he was director of technical services for Hilton Hotels Corporation. He was project director for Hilton's Atlantic City Hotel and Casino, the largest project ever undertaken by the company. He also was responsible for development support of Hilton hotels in McLean, Virginia, and Short Hills, New Jersey, and for the development of new exhibition facilities at the New York Hilton Hotel and Towers in New York City and proposed hotels in Westbury, Long Island, Brooklyn, New York and at Logan Airport in Boston.

As a senior associate at Alan Lapidus, P.C. Architects, Pesant directed the planning and design of a proposed new convention hotel in Manhattan for a major hotel chain and the conversion of a mixed-use building in Manhattan to a suite hotel for Flatotel International. He also served as vice president of operations of the New York office of the architectural firm John Carl Warnecke and Associates and its interior design subsidiary Eleanor Le Maire, Inc., managing architectural services for such clients as Hilton, Holiday Inn and Neiman Marcus.

Pesant holds a BS in architecture from City College of the City University of New York and has participated in numerous seminars at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the Construction Education Management Corporation.

Chemical Banking Corporation announced the appointment of Wesley A. Wainwright (photo) as senior vice president and business manager of the bank's new, national Affordable Mortgage Unit, a department dedicated to serving the needs of lower income potential home buyers. Wainwright will report to Cathleen Raffaeli, senior vice president and business manager of the New York branch-based mortgage lending business and national marketing manager for Chemical Residential Mortgage Corporation.

Wainwright has worked with the bank (formerly Manufacturers Hanover Trust) for nineteen years. As a senior vice president and regional manager in the business banking group, he was responsible for the strategic management focus for analyzing risk and marketing services to a diversified portfolio of small entrepreneurial firms, middle market and large corporate clients. After the merger of MHT and Chemical, Wainwright was designated to manage the integration of several key regions combined under the Chemical banner.

Chemical's Affordable Mortgage Unit offers products and programs designed to meet the home financing needs of low- and moderate-income borrowers through Chemical Bank New York. In its new, national effort, the unit will soon introduce its products and programs through the more than 50 Chemical Residential Mortgage Corporation offices located across the United States.

These products and programs include the Neighborhood Homebuyers Mortgage, the Affirmative Mortgage Program, the Home Ownership & Mortgage Counseling Program and a third-level review process.

Wainwright holds a BA in Economics from City College in New York, MA in Economics from New York University and is a graduate of The Executive Program at Carnegie Mellon University.
