Nelson Construction and Development Corp. has named Coldwell Banker Roohan Realty to head its marketing program.


Nelson Construction and Development Corp. has named Coldwell Banker Roohan Realty to head its marketing program for two of the company's major developments here. Cold-well Banker's Scott Varley (photo), leading Realtor in the Capital District in 1992, will direct the program.

With sales in excess of $3 million annually, Varley has been Coldwell Banker's top producer since 1989, reports Robert Nelson, vice president of Nelson Construction.

Varley will be responsible for all sales activity at the $70 million, 349-unit developments known as Woodlands at Saratoga Lake and Water's Edge on Saratoga Lake.

Woodlands, a luxury development of single-family homes, and its sister townhome community, Water's Edge, offer access to Saratoga Lake. Both enjoy year-round common amenities, including a 175-slip marina, private beach and boardwalk, a 13,000 squarefoot athletic pavilion with indoor and outdoor tennis courts and swimming pools, sauna, whirlpool, fitness room, racquetball court and outdoor basketball court.

Varley will seek to encourage sales for the two developments through such marketing efforts as advertising and special promotions, Realtor cooperation and extensive buyer qualification.

Anthony V. Saviano has been added as technical Director. With 20 years' experience, Saviano holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Pratt University in New York, and an Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering from Norwalk State Technical College in Connecticut. Dan Georgescu has been appointed project manager. With 16 years' experience in interior design and architecture, Georgescu holds a Master of Architecture Degree from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning (lon Micu) in Bucharest, Romania. Edward Cettina (photo), has been promoted to vice president to vice president of Tishman Construction Corporation of New York and of Tishman Research Corporation, the research and product development unit of Tishman Realty & Construction that specializes in building science and construction technology.

Due to new endeavors that Tishman Research Corporation has become involved in recently, Cettina is assisting Barry Donaldson, executive vice president of Tishman Research Corporation, in serving the unit's notable clientele, including: Honeywell Inc., American Standard Inc., AMP Inc., and The Trane Co. Donaldson and Cettina are working closely together to provide comprehensive consulting services to clients on the creation and implementation of new products, standards, and procedures. Tishman Research also conducts studies to find ways to reduce costs, accelerate construction, and enhance the quality and efficiency of the built environment. Cettina is also involved with the marketing efforts of a new joint-venture, Grupo Adalma/Tishman, which is exploring business opportunities in South America.

In addition to his responsibilities for Tishman Research, Cettina oversees the mechanical/electrical aspects of several of Tishman's New York construction projects. He is involved in preconstruction activities, including value engineering and preliminary budgeting; bid and award of mechanical/electrical trades; and installation of systems during the construction phase. He is currently overseeing the mechanical/electrical engineering work on an interior fit-out and base building modernization of nine floors at 1133 Avenue of the Americas, the addition of kitchens and meeting rooms at The St. Regis hotel, the rehabilitation of five floors of Bankers Trust office space, and an air-conditioning system upgrade of two trading floors for Lehman Brothers.

Cettina joined Tishman in 1987 as an estimator in our New York Estimating Department. Since then, he has served in various capacities on many New York Tishman projects, including: 114 West 47th Street, CitySpire, The St. Regis hotel, La Guardia Community College, the Japan Society building, and The Jewish Museum.

Cettina holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University. He is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New York and a member of ASHRAE ASHRAE American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers .
