The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  Club Volleyball Tournament held at Fairfield College.

Jeanne Dupre of Lunenburg has joined Workers' Credit Union as a financial representative.

Dupre most recently was a financial representative for a local bank. Previous to that, she worked for Workers' Credit Union for over 20 years, serving in a variety of positions including branch manager and financial representative.

Kathleen A. Flaherty, mortgage specialist at Clinton Savings Bank savings bank, financial institution that, until recently, performed only the following functions: receiving savings deposits of individuals, investing them, and providing a modest return to its depositors in the form of interest. , has been named a "Woman of Distinction" by the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts. Flaherty was recognized at the 16th annual Women of Distinction luncheon held on April 8, in Worcester. Each year, the Girl Scouts honor and recognize outstanding women in the community who demonstrate courage, confidence and character and who are role models to their peers and to members of the Girl Scouts.

A lifelong resident of Clinton, for the past decade Flaherty has served as a mortgage specialist at Clinton Savings Bank and she is a revered leader in the community. Through example, she inspires people on a daily basis to make a difference. Her philosophy is to treat everyone with personal attention, honesty and integrity - all with a rich sense of humor Noun 1. sense of humor - the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous; "she didn't appreciate my humor"; "you can't survive in the army without a sense of humor"

. Flaherty is an active volunteer for the Clinton Savings Bank's many philanthropic activities. Outside of the bank, she is a member of the board of directors of the Clinton Exchange Club, a board member and advocate for the Clinton Senior Center, an active member of the Wachusett Chamber of Commerce and supporter of many cancer research fundraisers. She believes in helping girls build self-esteem and confidence through sports and has served as a coach for the Clinton Lassie Lassie
