While the 47,000 member Los Angeles Teachers Union originally focused on NearPoint's next-generation recovery and archiving capabilities, they soon discovered that it also offered an easy way to perform e-mail content auditing while maintaining employees' privacy.

An additional challenge for UTLA was the need to establish a process by which they could conduct periodic audits of e-mail. With NearPoint deployed, UTLA can use the audit functionality in the product to perform ad hoc keyword searches across multiple mailboxes -- avoiding singling out individual mailboxes or reading individual e-mails.
