 (DMLGB) was released from an AV-8B aircraft in a test at China Lake in September 2006. The DMLGB is an enhanced Paveway variant variant /var·i·ant/ (var´e-ant)

The DMLGB (seen here on an F/A-f8) was under test as part of design verification and qualification for the US Navy and Marine Corps. During the test the Paveway effectively separated from the aircraft and initiated its GPS/INS GPS/INS Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System  guidance program, flying to a pre-programmed target location before acquiring the laser energy, when the weapon transitioned to laser guidance; successfully acquiring and impacting the target which was more than 800 metres from the test's pre-programmed flight location.
