"Then we moved the model into Commander Decision with TM1, and it works very well. Response time is good, and that's very important to the users." BUMED is responsible for funding Navy hospitals and setting their budgets. "The Comptroller is sponsoring this application, and he wants the users to be able to understand the detail 'right down to the deckplates' -- so the model is fairly large," says Kinney, "but most important, the model structure is very complex, requiring numerous roll-up hierarchies to provide all of the views they need to see. Because TM1 stores only the input data and calculates the model on demand, the storage requirements for our proof of concept were cut by more than a factor of 100," says Kinney. "And now that they have unlimited dimensions available, they'd like to see even more views of the data."
