Natural MRI Scans over 600 Patients with Stand-Up MRI Since January Opening; Diagnostic Tool Gives Physicians Images of Patients in Weight-Bearing Positions.

HOUSTON -- Since opening its doors in January 2005, Natural MRI 1. (application) MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

(TM) MRI. The new technology makes available Position(TM) Imaging, which provides an image of the spine and other areas of the body in the position in which a person works and plays, rather than in a reclining position, giving physicians important diagnostic information. A specialized team of technicians perform the scans at Natural MRI's facility at 8307 Knight Road in the Texas Medical Center area.

Dr. Rahul K. Nath is a reconstructive microsurgeon and director of the Texas Nerve and Paralysis Institute in Houston. He founded Natural MRI, which uses FONAR(TM) Corporation's Stand-Up(TM) MRI technology, to obtain scans that allow for better diagnoses for his patients. , said, "This is the only MRI technology available to provide an image of the patient in weight-bearing positions. It is unusual, because any region of the body can be scanned with the patient standing, sitting, bending or lying down. The unique magnet configuration allows physicians to see pathology that other magnets miss."

Dr. Nath said that many local physicians have embraced the Stand-Up(TM) MRI technology and are referring patients to Natural MRI to take advantage of the unique features of the Position(TM) Imaging technology.

"The Stand-Up(TM) MRI is very patient-friendly," said Dr. Nath. "Claustrophobic patients are at ease with the open environment. The patient's face is never covered, and they can look out into the room and even watch a TV show or a DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc.

Chad Stanley, punter with the Houston Texans, was recently referred to Natural MRI when previous scans failed to pinpoint the source of his knee pain. The Stand-Up(TM) MRI allowed him to be scanned in a standing, weight-bearing position that revealed a cartilage injury. "I don't have a problem with claustrophobia claustrophobia /claus·tro·pho·bia/ (-fo´be-ah) irrational fear of being shut in, of closed places.

but for those who do, the Stand-Up(TM) MRI is perfect," said Stanley. "You're covered on three sides, but in front of you it's open. I also noticed that it was significantly quieter than other MRIs I've had. I was comfortable during the whole thing and even watched 'Friends' on TV during the scan."

ABOUT NATURAL MRI:

Natural MRI was founded in January 2005 by Dr. Rahul K. Nath, a reconstructive microsurgeon and director of the Texas Nerve and Paralysis Institute in Houston, Texas. Natural MRI's specialized team of technicians utilize FONAR(TM) Corporation's Stand-Up(TM) MRI with its 0.6 Tesla magnet and Position(TM) Imaging can scan patients in numerous weight-bearing positions, such as standing, sitting, in flexion flexion /flex·ion/ (flek´shun) the act of bending or the condition of being bent.

and extension, and in the conventional lie-down position, allowing for the identification of pathology that can go undetected on conventional MRI scanners. The advanced technology allows physicians to make more accurate diagnoses, while providing a non-claustrophobic and comfortable environment for patients.
