The trial, conducted by Peters and four other federal prosecutors, resulted on one of the most significant Mafia family convictions in U.S. history. Peters later served in the current Bush Administration as the Assistant Deputy Director for State and Local Affairs of the White House Office of Drug Control Policy. There his duties included supervision of the country's High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, or HIDTA, is a program run by the United States Office of National Drug Control Policy.
