Peters, a former police officer, celebrated prosecutor and executive in the office of the White House Drug Czar.

Peters began his career as a police officer before becoming a federal prosecutor. His legal accomplishments include the convictions of Philadelphia Mob Boss "Little Nicky" Scarfo, his underboss and 16 mob soldiers in Philadelphia. The trial, conducted by Peters and four other federal prosecutors, resulted on one of the most significant Mafia family convictions in U.S. history. As a result, Peters received the Department of Justice's John Marshall Award. The Associated Press called Peters and his fellow prosecutors the "Modern Day Untouchables."

Peters later served in the current Bush Administration as the Assistant Deputy Director for State and Local Affairs of the White House Office of Drug Control Policy. There his duties included supervision of the country's High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Program. Peters also served as the Drug Czar's liaison to the White House Office of Homeland Security and to DHS Secretary Tom Ridge. He serves on the Committee on Terrorism of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). IACP numbers some 25,000 member chiefs worldwide; of that, approximately 40 members are selected to sit on its terrorism committee.
