National training quality awards.The National Staff Development and Training Association is pleased to offer the opportunity to recognize outstanding performance in the field of training and development for public human service employees or programs. Awards are open to any individual, agency, company, university, or training program that provides training or staff development for public human service employees. Training managers, coaches, curriculum developers, trainers, administrative support staff, researchers, evaluators, instructional media specialists, human resource planners, and organizational development specialists are eligible to be nominated. Award categories are: 1. Quality--for a Training Program or Training Agency 2. Distinguished Service in Training 3. Career Achievement The award winners will be acknowledged at the NSDTA conference in Portland, Oregon, on October 16. Joan Carrera Memorial Conference Scholarships Joan Carrera was a pioneer in staff development and training, a mentor, an inspiration, and a founding member of NSDTA. Due to her generosity, NSDTA is able to offer scholarships in her name to encourage public agency employees to attend our conference. NSDTA sponsors an annual conference that brings together trainers and training managers, as well as university partners and others who provide training to public human service employees. Scholarship winners will be able to attend the conference October 14 -17 in Portland. The scholarship covers the conference registration fee, hotel, travel, and t per diem expenses. Anyone who provides training or supports staff development in any role is eligible to apply. Beginning this year, graduate students who plan to work in the field of public human service training and development may apply for a conference scholarship.
