National Terrorism Conference to Focus on School Readiness; NSU is Home to the Leader in Anti-Terrorism Preparation for Educators.

The first meeting of its kind since the Sept. 1, 2004 Russian school siege that killed more than 300 adults and children, the conference is designed to teach principals, teachers, and parents what to do if their schools are targeted by terrorist organizations. The conference will also cover bullying and school violence, a timely subject in the wake of the March 22 shooting in Red Lake, Minn. which left 10 dead.

NIHAP offers the foremost training in homeland security and anti-terrorism for educators in the country. It is an independent organization based at Nova Southeastern University's Fischler School of Education and Human Services, in partnership with Educational Impact, Inc. and Signature Science, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

NIHAP aims to provide educators with action plans, hands-on training, current research and education to prevent, prepare for, and respond to terrorist incidents The following is a timeline of acts and failed attempts that can be considered non-state terrorism. Massacres more generally are listed chronologically at List of massacres; assassinations are listed by location at List of assassinated people.  including biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear attacks, acts of school violence, and mass casualty disasters.

Speakers include former U.S. Secret Service and FBI agents, experts in non-violent conflict resolution, and experts in crisis management. Sessions and keynotes throughout the conference will focus on emerging trends in school violence prevention, and school preparedness and planning in the era of terrorist threats.
