National Terrorism Conference to Focus on School Readiness; NSU is Home to the Leader in Anti-Terrorism Preparation for Educators.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Educators, first responders, and community leaders will attend a national conference to learn how they should respond to terrorist attacks at schools. The three day meeting, sponsored by National Institute for Homeland Security and Anti-Terrorism Preparedness (NIHAP), will be held from May 2-4 at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss. E[acute accent]The first meeting of its kind since the Sept. 1, 2004 Russian school siege that killed more than 300 adults and children, the conference is designed to teach principals, teachers, and parents what to do if their schools are targeted by terrorist organizations. The conference will also cover bullying and school violence, a timely subject in the wake of the March 22 shooting in Red Lake, Minn. which left 10 dead. E[acute accent]NIHAP offers the foremost training in homeland security and anti-terrorism for educators in the country. It is an independent organization based at Nova Southeastern University's Fischler School of Education and Human Services, in partnership with Educational Impact, Inc. and Signature Science, LLC. NIHAP aims to provide educators with action plans, hands-on training, current research and education to prevent, prepare for, and respond to terrorist incidents including biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear attacks, acts of school violence, and mass casualty disasters.
