National Summit Tackles Major Challenges of Auto Repair Field; California Meeting Aims for Industry Action on Recruitment, Training and Image.


SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--July 7, 1998--New emission programs. Recruiting people to maintain these complex, high-tech vehicles presents a challenge to the automotive service and collision repair industry and is one of several topics at a three-day, national summit titled "Automotive Repair Leadership 2000: Strategies for Success."

The summit is designed to develop key strategies for the automotive service and collision repair industry as it approaches the next century, and will attract a select group of leaders to Anaheim, Calif., Sept. 2-4, 1998.

This event will give participants a preview of issues that

will dominate the national automotive repair industry during the next century, including:

-- Recruiting qualified women and men into the automotive repair and

technology profession;

-- Increasing the level of professionalism in the industry and

raising its image among consumers; and

-- Resolving consumer problems relating to relating to relate prepconcernant

"Automotive Repair Leadership 2000: Strategies for Success" is sponsored jointly by the California Department of Consumer Affairs The California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is a government agency in the U.S. state of California dedicated to consumer protection and ensuring a fair and competitive marketplace.  Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) and industry leaders. Sponsors include professionals from the manufacturing and insurance industries, along with representatives from government, education and consumer advocacy organizations.

The summit will feature a carefully planned, action-oriented agenda geared toward identifying solutions to key challenges. The event will take place at Anaheim's Hyatt Regency Alicante hotel.
