National Semiconductor promotes Mark Levi to head corporate marketing and communications.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, l997--National Semiconductor Corporation has promoted Mark Levi, 60, to the newly created position of Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Communications.

In this role he is responsible for corporate public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most , marketing communications Marketing communications (or marcom) are messages and related media used to communicate with a market. Those who practice advertising, branding, direct marketing, graphic design, marketing, packaging, promotion, publicity, sponsorship, public relations, sales, sales  (including product public relations and advertising), corporate advertising and merchandising, and employee communications. He previously was vice president of marketing for National's Analog division.

Levi also will lead the company's Corporate Marketing Council of senior divisional and regional sales and marketing managers. The Council is chartered with promoting marketing process excellence worldwide and ensuring consistent marketing strategies across the company. He reports to Pat Brockett, executive vice president, worldwide marketing and sales.

In his 24 years at National, Levi has served in numerous marketing and managerial posts, including director level positions for the Microprocessor and Systems group, the Board Level Systems group, Automotive marketing and New Technology marketing. He was named vice president of sales for Europe in 1986, and vice president of Analog marketing in 1990.

Prior to joining National in 1972 he was a sales engineer and regional sales manger for Motorola Semiconductor, a sales engineer for Philco Corporation, and a design engineer for the Nortonics Division of Northrop Corporation. Levi has a BSEE BSEE
