 have had a long relationship of working together. NRF is a nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law.
 charitable foundation dedicated to enhancing the role of recreation as a positive force in promoting the mental, physical, social and spiritual health of the community at large. That task links directly to the mission of NRPA, and therefore NRF has provided funding to projects that benefit both organizations likeminded causes.

In addition to accepting proposals from NRPA, each year the NRF Board of Trustees board of trustees Politics The posse of thugs who oversee an institution's administration. See Board of directors.  recommends innovative and creative project proposals that fulfills the aims of the Foundation. It funds more than 30 programs throughout the country, and in recent years has focused on funding programs for "youth at risk" and for "healthy lifestyles."

In recent decades, the Foundation has provided approximately $10 million in grants to NRPA and significant amounts to various other community organizations throughout the country.

NRF also awards the Robert Robert, Henry Martyn 1837-1923.

 W. Crawford Achievement Prize every year in recognition of someone who has dedicated him or herself to enhancing recreation opportunities for youth during a significant period of time. Starting next month, Parks & Recreation magazine will highlight a program funded by NRF in the NRPA in Action section. It is our hope that these grant-funded programs will provide inspiration to other communities on how to engage residents in parks and recreation through innovative programming, use of green space and conservation. The goal is to provide a resource where other communities and organizations can glean glean
