National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Synthesizes Large Amount of White Organic Nano Tubes.Tokyo, Japan, July 25, 2006 - (JCN JCN Japan Corporate News JCN Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience JCN Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing JCN Journal of Christian Nursing JCN Job Control Number JCN Journal of Child Neurology JCN joint communications network (US DoD) ) - A research team at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (産業技術総合研究所 (AIST AIST Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (Japan) AIST National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (Japan) AIST Association for Iron & Steel Technology ) has developed a technology to synthesize amphiphilic am·phi·phil·ic adj. Of or relating to a molecule having a polar, water-soluble group attached to a nonpolar, water-insoluble hydrocarbon chain. molecules into various types of white organic nano tubes with inner diameters of 40-200nm, outer diameters of 70-500nm, and lengths of several micrometers. This simplified technology can be used to reduce the amount of agents needed to produce tubes to only 1/1,000 the amount required by conventional methodologies. Proteins, metallic nano particles, and other materials with more than 10nm in size can be used for creating tubes, so the technology can be applied to production of sustained release drugs and health food.
