U.S. scientific society founded in 1888 in Washington, D.C., by a small group of eminent explorers and scientists “for the increase and diffusion of geographic knowledge.
 Education Foundation supports educational programs in three categories: establishing geography's position and importance in the K-12 curriculum, engaging K-12 students in real-world geographic geographic /geo·graph·ic/ (je?o-graf´ik) in pathology, of or referring to a pattern that is well demarcated, resembling outlines on a map.
