Mr. Ward, a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Cambridge; coeducational; chartered 1861, opened 1865 in Boston, moved 1916. It has long been recognized as an outstanding technological institute and its Sloan School of Management has notable programs in business,  started his career as an Electronic Design Engineer on the first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus. After 15 years at the Raytheon Company as an Electronic Design Engineer and Design Manager he started several businesses including Computer Systems Engineering, the predecessor company to National Datacomputer, Inc.

"We are all going to miss John's day to day input in the business but we are fortunate to have a man of his intellect and character as our Chairman," said Mr. Berens.
