Narrowing the gap between ideals and interests.


A series of international conferences will take place from 8 July-19 August 2004 at the Initiatives of Change conference centre in Caux, Switzerland Caux is a small village in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. Looking out over Lake Geneva from an altitude of 1000 meters, the Caux conference centre of Initiatives of Change[1] can accommodate up to 450 people.  

PROGRAMME

8-14 July: Service, Responsibility, Leadership: enabling individuals and communities.

16-21 July: Globalization globalization

Process by which the experience of everyday life, marked by the diffusion of commodities and ideas, is becoming standardized around the world. Factors that have contributed to globalization include increasingly sophisticated communications and transportation

24-30 July: The Arts: transforming the way things are

4-10 August: Human Security through Good Governance The terms governance and good governance are increasingly being used in development literature. Governance describes the process of decision-making and the process by which decisions are implemented (or not implemented).  

13-19 August: Peace-building Initiatives
