Nancy Golden, now in her second year as superintendent of the Springfield Springfield.

 School District, received the Leading into Leadership Award on Wednesday from the University of Oregon's College of Education. The award, in its second year, goes to an educational leader who has demonstrated a positive, sustained effect in the lives and learning achievement of children.

The award is closely associated with the college's Educational Leadership program, and nominees must have some past or present affiliation with the program. Prior to taking the Springfield post, Golden was the head of the college's Administrator Licensure licensure

In a PowerPoint presentation, Golden's peers described her as an extraordinarily strong, compassionate com·pas·sion·ate
