These are but a few of the people who have made a difference in my life. Some I've met firsthand; others have influenced me from afar. In some I've learned from their tutelage TUTELAGE. State of guardianship; the condition of one who is subject to the control of a guardian. ; in others, from their example. I labored a bit over creating this list: whom to include; whom to leave off. How long would it take you to make your own list? Whom would you include and why? Every one on my list has directly or indirectly helped me become who I am today. While I won't go into an existential monograph of self-exploration here, I will tell you I've added a new hat to the collection I wear: I am proud to say I was recently named publisher of Contemporary Long Term Care magazine. Because of his exemplary work and previous experience, former CLTC CLTC Certified in Long-Term Care CLTC Community Long Term Care CLTC Chapter Leadership Training Conference publisher Chris Loretto was promoted to another magazine within our company. Everyone here at CLTC wishes him well. In my expanded role as publisher (while retaining my role of editor-in-chief), I hope to do more than just make the magazine a good "read" for our subscribers. I hope to do more than just make for a good marketing partner for our advertisers. I hope to make a difference in the field of long term care. If articles such as our "Surviving the survey process ... or just hiding behind it?" (April 2001 CLTC) can move even one member of a State Board of Nursing Home Administrators to action quicker, or convince legislators to effect a change in the regulatory system, then my role here will have some heightened value. It is this same drive and wilt to make a difference that we cite in the subjects of our annual "People Who Make a Difference" feature this month, which starts on page 30. We hope you are inspired by their stories and contributions to the field of long term care. Mark Zacharia Editor-in-Chief and Publisher (mzacharia@billcom.com) |
