R. STEPHEN BARRETT JR. was hired as EVP and CFO of home-appliance maker Whirlpool Corp. of Benton Harbor, Mich.

DOUGLAS C. BEATTY was promoted to CFO of Toronto-based Nortel Networks Corp., a global company focused on communication and information exchange.

VICKIE L. CAPPS was named SVP and CFO of DJ Orthopedics Inc., a San Diego provider of orthopedic sports-medicine products and services.

ALFRED CASTINO was appointed SVP and CFO of Autodesk Inc., San Rafael, Calif., a design-software and digital-content company.

JOHN CHANDLER was named CFO and Treasurer of Williams Energy Partners LP, Tulsa, Okla., an energy concern.

JOSEPH T. DOYLE was appointed SVP and CFO of Foster Wheeler Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, an engineering and construction company.

RANDALL R. LAY was named CFO of Chicago-based Universal Access Global Holdings Inc., a telecommunications-services provider.

* JAMES A. MACLENNAN (Atlanta Chapter) was appointed CFO and Treasurer of Theragenics Corp., Atlanta, a maker of devices for the treatment of prostate cancer.

JAMES F. MCDADE was named CFO of interactive Systems Worldwide Inc., West Paterson, N.J., a maker of sports-wagering software systems.

* GENE S. MORPHIS (Nashville Chapter) has joined The Rowe Companies as CFO, McLean, Va., a manufacturer, retailer and specialty supplier of upholstered furniture.

SAM PAISLEY was appointed CFO of Valueclick Inc., Westlake Village, Calif., a traditional and interactive marketing solutions company.

FRANK PRUDENTE, CPA, was hired as CFO of Gulf insurance Group, a subsidiary of Travelers Property/Casualty based in New York.

PETER QUINN was appointed CFO of Smartdisk Corp., Naples, Fla., a computer hardware company.

SANDRA WAECHTER was promoted to CFO of DPR Construction Inc., Redwood City, Calif., a commercial contractor/construction manager. She will also serve on DPR's Management Committee.

KENT WALKER, General Counsel of Liberate Technologies Inc., San Carlos, Calif., assumed the additional post of CFO.

THOMAS J. WEBB joined CMS Energy Corp. Of Dearborn, Mich., as EVP and CFO. CMS, a utility holding company, is currently under scrutiny by the Securities and Exchange Commission for so-called "round-trip trading."

TREY WHICHARD was appointed VP and CFO of BJ Services Co., Houston, a provider of pressure-pumping and other oil-field services to the petroleum industry.
