Tai (tī), lake, c.1,300 sq mi (3,370 sq km), on the border between Jiangsu prov. and Zhejiang prov., E China; second largest freshwater lake in China. Dotted with islands, it is one of China's most scenic areas.

 business, Nam Tai recently began investing in flex unit manufacturing after obtaining the local Chinese government's approval of environmental regulations. Flex unit manufacturing involves the etching etching, the art of engraving with acid on metal; also the print taken from the metal plate so engraved. In hard-ground etching the plate, usually of copper or zinc, is given a thin coating or ground of acid-resistant resin.  of a copper printed circuit onto a flexible plastic film and assisting customers in the design of the circuit layout.

The first phase of investment for this project amounts to approximately $30 million, which includes the acquisition of machinery, building of new production lines, consultancy and administration fees, and other miscellaneous expenses. The move is backed by technical support from its existing flex subassembly customers and Japanese consultants. The company expects that the trial production of flex unit manufacturing will commence at the end of the third quarter of 2006.
