Over the three-year construction period, China documented the construction of Nicholas Grimshaw Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, CBE (born 9 October, 1939) is a prominent English architect, particularly noted for several modernist buildings, including the international railway terminal at London's Waterloo Station and the Eden Project in Cornwall.  and Partners' new spa complex following a commission by Paul Simons Noun 1. Simon
, director of the Bath Spa Project. While the brief was left open, Simons wanted Chinca to create a black and white archive of the project--arguably the most significant and sensitive new project in Bath's recent history. Seeking to record the key moments in the building's progress, Chinca paid particular attention to everyday processes of construction seeking where possible to capture the character of the site and the workers.

 tower crane views, this unique catalogue of photographs uncovers the reality of how highly polished buildings begin their life. Much more than a collection of beautiful photographs, when exhibited in public galleries such as Bristol's Architecture Centre, with a commitment to education and exhibition work, the images wonderfully describe in frozen and silent form the dynamic and noisy drama of construction. All that remains now is for Chinca to return to photograph the building in use.
