Nacore honors Schwagerl as RE executive of the year.

Brian G. Schwagerl, Esq., an attorney and senior manager of facilities planning for The Hearst Corporation, was honored as an Outstanding Corporate Real Estate Executive of the Year by the New York Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives (NACORE).

NACORE's 10th annual tri-state awards dinner, held at Chelsea Piers, was attended by more than 900 real estate professionals. This year's theme was "NACORE: Present, and Future." The Rockefeller Group Development Corporation was also honored as Real Estate Owner/Developer or the Year.

"As the premier organization for business leaders engaged in the strategic management of real estate for major corporations worldwide, NACORE is pleased that Brian Schwagerl is being recognized for his outstanding achievements as a corporate facilities planner and as president of the New York Chapter," said H. Gordon Wyllie, executive director/CEO of NACORE International.

Schwagerl served for two terms as president of NACORE New York, the largest chapter in the country.

"Brian has an amazing talent of bringing to every task a unique charisma and the ability to lead people to take positive action."

Throughout his 17-year career in real estate, involved in has been involved in professional and civic activities that advance the corporate real estate profession. In his capacity as senior facilities manager at Hearst, Brian is currently in the preliminary stages of developing a new corporate headquarters for the Hearst Magazine Building; the Art Deco skyscraper at the corner of 57th St. and Eighth Ave. in Manhattan. Some other of his projects include the leasing of 11 E. 57th St. to Jil Sander, the German fashion design firm, and the debut of The Hearst Tower, a new skyscraper in Charlotte, N.C. housing The Hearst Service Center.

"I am truly honored to be recognized by NACORE and to have played an instrumental part in expanding its visibility as the premier real estate service organization in the metropolitan New York area," said Schwagerl. "My position at Hearst gives me the incredibly rewarding opportunity of working with some of the most accomplished people in the business throughout the country."

Schwagerl is a speaker on a wide range of real estate industry topics and has lectured at learning programs for Grubb & Ellis and GVA Williams, as well as at various real estate industry gatherings.

This year he participated in the prestigious "Summit on Buildings" in Washington, D.C. As past editor of the NACORE Real Estate Report, he wrote frequently on negotiating techniques and management practices. Currently he sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Corporate Real Estate and is a member of the faculty of The Institute of Corporate Real Estate, where he was recognized as "Top Rated Faculty Member of 1999."

Schwagerl has a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law, a B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany, and a diploma in real estate finance from New York University's School of Continuing Education.

Schwagerl also won the HeartShare Special Services Award. In addition, he sits on the advisory board of the Leviticus 25.23 Alternative Fund, Inc., which provides loans to not-for-profit housing development corporations for new and expanding day care centers.
