Nabi Goes Live with HP Rapid/3 Implementation OF R/3.

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 1997--Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that Nabi, a leading biopharmaceutical company, has gone live with an HP Rapid/3 implementation of SAP's R/3. The fixed-price project, managed by HP's Professional Services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products.  Organization, was completed in only seven months.

The company urgently needed to integrate its business functions and replace existing systems as a result of its rapid growth. Nabi, one of the world's largest independent providers of human plasma products, required a new system that could deliver timely, accurate data and that could interface with its plasma-donor management system. In 1996, Nabi selected R/3 to meet its current and future needs and chose HP's Rapid/3 accelerated-implementation approach, which incorporates SAP's AcceleratedSAP methodology to deliver benefits to the organization quickly. "This is the largest IT investment in Nabi's history," said David J David J. Haskins (b. April 24, 1957, in Northampton, England) is a British alternative rock musician. He was the bassist for the seminal gothic rock band Bauhaus. Life and work . Gury, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Nabi. "We needed a partner that not only could manage a fast, efficient implementation, but also work with us as part of a team -- not as just a supplier. HP proved that it could address the challenges inherent in the project and be flexible enough to resolve the unique requirements of a highly regulated industry. HP also helped us assimilate varied experience levels within our organization and further addressed project challenges, such as intricate legacy system interfaces."

"Rapid implementations of R/3 present interesting challenges, primarily in two areas," said Hector Vasquez, a regional manager within HP's Professional Services Organization. "The first challenge is resisting the temptation to increase the project scope after the implementation has started. HP's Rapid/3 allows a company to deploy an application quickly. But the acknowledged trade-off is that some functionality would not be initially included. The second is helping users and IT professionals accept the changes to business processes and technology that come with R/3, while learning the new skills they need in a compressed time frame. HP's consultants worked with Nabi to guide and mentor the project team through these challenges while respecting their organization's culture."

Nabi's implementation of R/3 includes the FI, CO, MM and SD modules on HP 9000 business servers running HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.

Nabi currently has more than 300 R/3 users at corporate headquarters and at two other principal locations within its U.S. operations. The company expects to have all of its 80 remote plasma collection facilities on line by the end of 1997.
