NYTimes.com Expands Its RSS Feeds to 27 Categories, Adds Most E-Mailed Articles and Multimedia.

 -- NYTimes.com announced today that it has expanded its Really Simple Syndication See syndication format.  (RSS (Really Simple Syndication) A syndication format that was developed by Netscape in 1999 and became very popular for aggregating updates to blogs and the news sites. RSS has also stood for "Rich Site Summary" and "RDF Site Summary. ) offerings to 27 categories including new feeds such as Most E-mailed Articles, Multimedia and Week in Review. In addition, with this launch, all of the Times's RSS feeds Summaries of Web site content that are published in the RSS format for download. See RSS.  can be downloaded directly from NYTimes.com/rss.

RSS, a mechanism for content distribution that provides users with another way to access Times content, also enables Web log publishers to add NYTimes.com links to their blogs. NYTimes.com/rss provides quick access to Times headlines and summaries, which are updated throughout the day and link back to NYTimes.com for the full article.

NYTimes.com's RSS feeds include:

The new feeds include Most E-mailed Articles, Automobiles, Magazine, Multimedia, Week in Review, Washington Washington, town, England

To access RSS feeds, users can install newsreader A client program that is used to read messages from Internet-based discussion groups (the venerable Usenet) or syndication feeds such as RSS and Atom. Some programs provide a search and organization tool for both newsgroups and feeds as well as local e-mail messages, contacts and other  software or use Web-based newsreaders to select and display feeds from Web sites that offer RSS. UserLand sells Web content management and blogging software packages and services.
