NYSE Group to Purchase 5% Equity Interest in National Stock Exchange, India's Largest Financial Marketplace.

) today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a 5% equity position in the Mumbai-based National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE NSE - Network Software Environment: a proprietary CASE framework from Sun Microsystems. ), the maximum investment permitted by a foreign investor in a stock exchange under the securities laws of India. NYSE Group will purchase the shares of NSE for U.S. $115 million in cash from a consortium of selling shareholders, including ICICI Bank ICICI Bank (formerly Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India) is India's largest private sector bank in market capitalization and second largest overall in terms of assets.  Limited, Industrial Finance Corporation of India Limited, IL&FS Trust Company Limited, Punjab National Bank Punjab National Bank (PNB), established in 1895 in Lahore by Lala Lajpat Rai, is the second largest public sector commercial bank in India with about 4500 branches and offices throughout the country. , and General Insurance Corporation of India.
