) today reported March 2006 transaction volume in all securities traded by NYSE Group. This report represents the first NYSE Group volume release issued on a combined basis for NYSE and NYSE Arca For other uses of "ARCA", see ARCA.

NYSE Arca, previously known as ArcaEx, an abbreviation of Archipelago Exchange, is an entirely online securities exchange on which both stocks and options are traded.
. This data, which reflects the combined full month statistics for NYSE and NYSE Arca, will be issued on a monthly basis moving forward.

NYSE Group has revised the methodology used to report volume in order to maintain consistency across markets. In addition to reporting matched volume, which represents trades that are executed by NYSE Group, the transaction volume data includes handled volume for trades routed to other markets for execution. Trades routed within the NYSE Group for execution are reported as matched volume (single counted). Additionally, volumes matched in any of NYSE's Crossing Sessions are included in all calculations.
