The UCS is the judicial branch of the state government, consisting of approximately 350 state-funded courts and 1300 locally-funded Town and Village Courts throughout the state. The $1.9 million, 120-mile network provided by Fibertech supplies a completely redundant, high-speed infrastructure that connects more than 20 courthouses and agencies in Albany, Renssaeler, Schenectady, and Saratoga counties. It enables the UCS to deliver numerous innovative convergent network applications, including videoconferencing A real time video session between two or more users or between two or more locations. Although the first videoconferencing was done with traditional analog TV and satellites, inhouse room systems became popular in the early 1980s after Compression Labs pioneered digitized video systems , live broadcasting, video on demand, audio/video recording over IP, and voice over IP.

This new network serves as a critical communications infrastructure for UCS, enabling cost-saving measures across the network, while at the same time, delivering enhanced services Enhanced service is service offered over commercial carrier transmission facilities used in interstate communications, that employs computer processing applications that act on the format, content, code, protocol, or similar aspects of the subscriber's transmitted information;  and performance to employees and constituents in the area. It will support numerous types of diverse traffic and guarantee the maximum amount of resiliency, scalability and reliability required to meet both employee and constituency demand.

To offer this service, Fibertech utilized portions of its existing 233-mile fiber optic network in Albany to provide connectivity into UCS facilities. The company extended the network directly into the numerous courthouses and agencies to deliver a direct, end-to-end fiber solution.

"Fibertech is proud to provide the Unified Court System with a network that better links information and improves communications with its employees, citizens and businesses - all at a fixed cost that meets their IT and communications needs now and well into the future," said Mike Hurley Hurley has become the English version of at least three distinct original Irish names: the Ó hUirthile, part of the Dál gCais tribal group, based in Clare and North Tipperary; the Ó Muirthile, based around Kilbritain in west Cork; and the OhIarlatha, from the district of , VP Sales and Marketing, Fibertech Networks.
