) - Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha has announced its intention to extend its scholarship programs at Shanghai Maritime University Shanghai Maritime University (上海海事大学,又名上海海运学院, 真名 商船学校) is a public university in Shanghai, China. The university was found in 1909 .  and Dalian Maritime University Dalian Maritime University is a university in Dalian, Liaoning, China.

Dalian Maritime University (DMU) is a key maritime institution under the Ministry of Communications, People’s Republic of China.
 in China until the year 2011.

The scholarship programs were first established in 2001 for a five-year term and were scheduled to end this year. However, there were strong requests to continue the scholarships from both universities and the Ministry of Communications of the People's Republic of China The Ministry of Communications of the People's Republic of China (Chinese: 中华人民共和国交通部 Pinyin:Zhōng huá Rén mín Gòng hé guó jiāo tōng bù) is the government agency responsible for road and water .

NYK will extend the scholarship programs until 2011. The scholarships are given every year to 36 students at Shanghai Maritime University and 30 students at Dalian Maritime University who have excellent academic records from the previous year and are in financial need.

In addition to these scholarships, NYK has a scholarship program that was set up in 2003 for 40 students each year at Wuhan University of Technology The new Wuhan University of Technology (WUT, 武汉理工大学) was established on May 27, 2000, as a key institution under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education by the authority of the State Council, P.R.China. .
