NURSERY SCHOOL'S ROUTINE DISRUPTED : SHERMAN OAKS CENTER NEEDS A HOME.

For years the Sherman Oaks Cooperative Nursery School nursery school, educational institution for children from two to four years of age. It is distinguishable from a day nursery in that it serves children of both working and nonworking parents, rarely receives public funds, and has as its primary objective to promote  has taught its students the importance of giving to the community.

The students hold a yearly toy drive for a local shelter for battered women and their children; they hop in the annual hop-athon to raise funds for leukemia patients; and they sing regularly for residents of a convalescent con·va·les·cent

Now, these 2- to 5-year-olds are counting on the community for help in finding a new school building. They are losing the one used for 40 years at the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Recreation Center, officials said Monday.

The school will be allowed to use a portion of the center's land large enough for a portable trailer or classroom, Singer said.
